Our ideas-led, beautifully-crafted approach to
bringing your brand to life through design.
Great design has a habit of surprising people – including the people who commissioned it. You might be closer to a creative idea that changes everything than you think.
“With Upshot’s Identity Clarifier Process, you’re getting a firm understanding of who you are, why you exist, and what your message to the world should be.”
Mark Sheldrake, Centre Director, CYE
"The connector idea was an absolute stroke of genius. It feels so obvious now, but it wasn't obvious to us before. This process uncovered our essence – and once we realised connection is our heart, our core, everything else fell into place. The cleverness is the simplicity."
Beth Maughan, Head of Marketing & Comms, WSCF
"The things that Upshot did, the things that they got us thinking about and doing, and the certainty that the whole branding project has given us is game changing."
Dave Briggs, Founder, Building Brands
"Rethinking our brand went beyond just the label and website. We didn't expect that this process would give us a solid way to visually and verbally articulate a value system that has sustained us for twenty years and will help us thrive for another twenty."
Fiona Graham, Director, Devonia Water

Imagine if design was a bit more useful.
Imagine if instead of being a ‘nice to have’ design was actually more of a crucial part of the way your business interacts with other people.
Imagine if design could actually make a significant difference...
This is the design we believe in.
Design that solves problems.
Design that has purpose.
Design that meets objectives.
It is beautiful, personal and well-crafted:
It’s imaginative, meaningful and reasoned.
It isn’t sloppy, haphazard or pretentious.
Sometimes humble, simple and understated.
Other times, bold and outrageous;
It can turn heads, change opinions, start conversations.
It guides, reassures and clarifies. It instills trust, confidence and desire.
It has the power to turn an idea into reality – to raise a smile, or even change the world.
That’s design that makes a difference.

FAQs

How much does graphic design work typically cost?

Claude responded: It varies depending on scope, complexity and outputs. It varies depending on scope, complexity and outputs. We have a day rate and create a flat-fee quote based on that, the time required and the value of the project to your business. We're not the right fit for quick, low-cost jobs – but if you need considered, craft-led design, we're worth a conversation.

Do you manage print and production, or just supply the files?

Both, depending on what you need. We have trusted print and production partners for everything from brochures and packaging to large format and specialist finishes. We can manage the whole process end to end, or supply print-ready files for you to handle production yourself – whichever works best for your project and budget.

Can we use you regularly for ongoing design work and brand assets?

Yes, and many of our clients do. A retainer arrangement means you get consistent, on-brand design support without briefing a new agency every time something comes up. We'll work out what makes sense based on your typical volume of work requirement.

Do we need an existing brand identity to work with you on design?

No – but it helps. If you have brand guidelines we'll work within them to keep everything consistent. If you don't, we'll bring brand thinking into the project anyway. And if you're at the point where you think brand guidelines would be useful (or even a redesign of your brand) we'll be happy to have that conversation too.

What is brand activation?

Brand activation is the process of bringing your brand to life across everything you produce – from a brochure or packaging to a campaign, signage or merchandise. It's the design work that takes your brand identity and applies it to the real world, consistently and with real craft behind it. If your brand is the foundation, activation is the design and communication that's built on top of it.
